Gold Coasting

After feeling stressed for a few months we decided it was time for a mini-break, we are blessed living in Brisbane to have the Gold Coast right on our doorstep. We are also lucky that our winter days are hovering around 25c meaning that a beach holiday is not out of the question.

We had heard from friends that the Sea World Nara Resort was fantastic and after a quick Google discovered they had some great offers on at this time of year. I spoke to Amanda in the booking centre, she was a gem. One night at the hot special and one night that included whale watching for 2 Adults. During our stay we received a double Queen Premium Room, 2 for 1 dinner & breakfast, unlimited access into Sea World and a few extra perks like free parking, wifi and dolphin show!

I couldn't recommend this place more for families, there is an on-site mini water park with a pool, lots of open garden space, great views and everything was just easy. The staff go out of their way to help. As a couple without kids we still found the resort relaxing and quiet, I can only imagine what it would be like during peak season though!

We had an amazing 3 days. I would recommend starting your holiday on a Friday if possible, we did and this meant Sea World was very quiet, the longest we had to wait for a ride was 10 minutes and that was the new rollercoaster. We also had front row for the shows and the animals weren't over all the noise and attention.

I tried to do the Sky Walk challenge but realised once I was up there I didn't really like being that high up and I was having a lot of trouble trusting my safety rope. Husband was a champion, he could have completed all three levels in a heartbeat but instead helped me on the first level whilst I was been over taken by small children and teenagers. I finally got the confidence up to the third level by taking the exposed stairs so I could see the view and maybe let go of the centre pole but half way up we ran out of time. We had plans to come back but seemed to keep running out of time.

The Fortress is the next best thing and better for small children as it is enclosed with netting and you don't need a safety rope. We misread the signs and went in the exit but still found our way to the top. We both decided after about 30 minutes that we definitely need to work on our cardio!

By the end of Day One we were completely exhausted and wondered how the kids ever do it!
