Grown-Up Gifts

You know you are a grown up when you get excited about a practical gift! Yesterday I received the greatest gift from Husband!

Nope, not a car - a garage remote! Confused? Ever since we moved in my remote to the garage didn't work, we kept intending to get it fixed but completely forgot about it. Every time I left the house I would have to unlock the garage, press the button to open the roller door, reverse down our hill, walk up the hill, press the button, go through the side gate, lock the garage and then back through the gate and down the hill to my car all in my work high heels! A friggin nightmare and first world problem for sure!
Every evening Husband would open the garage for me so when I came home from work I could just drive straight in. Heaven.
Not only was it a pain in the butt but dangerous! Our drive-way is quite steep and the jacaranda has been dropping thousands of its tiny leaves which become slippery in the rain. Many a time Shovey has set off on a cracking pace only for me to slip on the driveway due to my clumsiness and Shoveys strength!
Husband was able to fix the old remote and on the first day I got to use it I raced down the hill to help Husband do something before heading off to Woolies. I trod on some of those soggy leaves and fell straight down hard on my hip. The remote went flying up in the air before landing on the driveway and rolling down the hill. The wind was sucked right out of me, I was too scared to move and when Husband ran up to help all I could say was "I don't know if I'm ok".
I waited a minute before deciding I was fine and my juicy rump had saved me once again, or maybe all those wrestling classes that taught me how to fall properly? Either way I was fine, but the remote was not, all it could do was blink sadly. I cried, not because I had hurt myself but because I had killed the remote.
Husband took it to the keyman who confirmed that I had in fact killed it but he could order a new one. Hooray! I was gifted my beautiful new "clicker" this morning and saved 5 minutes when leaving the house, what a wonderful start to the day!
