Fencing

Do you know what sucks? Fencing. I take my hat off to all fencers and all farmers who have kilometres of fencing to do.

No one ever really wants to do it, it takes up precious weekend time and unless it has actually fallen over it kind of feels like a waste of time and money. Yet, here we are. We've torn down the old leaning, rotted and termite affected fence and a sturdy new fence is going up.

We live on the top of a hill, it seemed like such a great idea when we bought the place. All tucked up high on the hill with excellent views of the mountains. It seemed like a great idea until you realised every single thing that was to go into the house or the block has to be physically carried up.

Cheers to our excellent neighbours who we are building the fence with! Yup, it is a bloody stressful time, nope we don't truly know what we are doing but some how we are pulling together in this heat and building a fence. We are very lucky that we like each other. You hear about those neighbours that used to be friends but one big project tore the friendship apart, we only have about 20 metres left to make sure that doesn't happen to us!

Shovey thinks he is king of the hill, we have fenced enough that he has complete access to both yards and I think it he will be quite disappointed when he realises it isn't permanent.

I won't be disappointed when it is done. So far I've helped to carry enough timber for a 32m fence, fallen onto a stack of palings, had to pull out over 100 splinters, no lie, no exageration and may be slowly dying from arsenic poisoning. Ok so the last bit was an exageration but still, it's all a bit shit! Whilst I'm at work today the neighbour is nailing up palings, Husband is putting in time after work and it is starting to look good. I still think we should have considered a gate so we don't have to walk up and down our hills every time we wanted to share a drink or a slice of cake or two!
