Some Like It Hot

Summer is coming baby! Yeah! I love the heat, I adore the late night swims, bbq dinners, endless salads and the smell of sunscreen first thing in the morning.
Lucky I live in Brisbane where it stays nice and warm for most of the year. A heat wave is coming, not crazy hot but much hotter than average. I remember as a child we lived in Adelaide for a few years and boy did it get hot. My brother and I used to sit on the slate kitchen tiles fighting over who got to lean up against the fridge with wet towels on our heads. There weren't so many water restrictions so the sprinkler got a good work out and nothing said summer like a frozen popper or sunny boy in your lunch box!
If it got over 36c we got sent home early, gosh did we pray for that little thermometer to creep up higher and higher. Probably not great for Mum who had to get us but who cares! EARLY MARK!

This morning as I was leaving for work I walked past my pool, gazed longingly at it. Surely going to work without make up and with wet hair would be fine? No?....No. Just as I was thinking about dipping my feet in I saw a big cane toad doing laps! Cheeky bugger! As the salt water isn't good for them I scooped him out. I have no doubt the *splosh* I heard as I was walking down the front path was the toad jumping back in for a second swim. Need a visual? Thanks Google Images! I am not co-ordinated, walking around the pool edge in my heels whilst trying to take a photo of a swimming toad on my phone was just too much risk for me on a Friday morning.

Remember to stay hydrated, drink lots of water. Put on a fan or air-conditioner if you have one and don't forget pets get hot too. Provide them with a frozen treat and put out extra water and ensure there is a shady spot for them.
