Then There Were Three.

Cancer is a bitch. There is no cure, no answer, no rhyme or reason. Yesterday our beautiful baby Checkers lost her battle.

Checkers was a brave little cat, It was only in the last day that she went downhill very quickly. Saturday night she was eating steak on the kitchen counter - the kitchen counter! She was convinced all our guests were here to see her and always came out to greet them.

Tuesday came and she wasn't well, we knew what we had to do, we had to look after her one last time. Whilst I cried on the train home, always accidentally in the Quiet Carriage. Husband took her outside to enjoy the fresh air and green grass one last time.

The vets at Sinnamon Park Vet and Pet were wonderful. They were kind and compassionate and agreed that we were in deed doing the right thing, even though it felt like the worst thing. We cuddled and kissed her and told the vet stories of her life and just how funny and kind she was.

We held her close as the green dream took over and she crossed over the rainbow bridge. We wrapped her in her favourite blanket and buried her in the coffin Husband made, we filled it with photos, toys and of course her favourite lid.

The skies opened and rain poured over us as we buried her in the garden, along the fence as she always liked to stare at the neighbours. This weekend we will be building a wonderful garden for her, to honour her memory.

Rest In Peace Checkers
